Fully-funded energy efficient improvements to make homes warmer in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire

What’s on offer:
- Expert energy surveys, reports and recommendations for your home
- Fully-funded energy-saving upgrades
- Improvements such as insulation, heating, and renewables, such as solar panels
- Support for you and your household at every step.
To qualify you must:
- Live in Gloucestershire or South Gloucestershire
- Own or privately rent a home with an EPC of D, E, F or G
- Have a total household income of less than £36,000 a year.
Sarah’s warm home transformation
In this video, Sarah shares her journey of applying for the Warm Homes Local Grant.
After contacting the Severn Wye team, she received a free energy efficiency survey which identified key improvements to make her home warmer, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient.
Thanks to funding through the local authority energy grant scheme — part of the UK government’s home retrofit programme — Sarah was able to install an air source heat pump, solar panels and new, efficient radiators.
The result? A cosy home, lower energy bills, and a meaningful reduction in carbon emissions. Sarah’s story is a great example of how local energy advice and government support can make a real difference — for people and the planet.

“Very grateful to have received a grant”
“I’d spent ten years feeling really cold in the winter, even after getting cavity wall insulation. Then somebody suggested I phone Severn Wye. They said I was eligible for solar panels and air source heat pump which would help with bills and keep me warmer through the winter.
I’d had leaflets through the door which quoted about £10,000 but on a pension, no way. So I’m very grateful to have received a grant and I hope other people will take advantage. I’ve now got constant hot water – the solar is on the front and the back of the house so it’s been generating quite a lot of electricity.”
