Referring clients to Severn Wye services
Before referring a client to us, please read and confirm that you agree to comply with the principles of our referral framework.
Severn Wye’s framework for referrals into our services from other organisations is underpinned by a series of principles. The framework aims to protect client’s personal data in accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations (2021), while facilitating an integrated referral system to best support client needs.
Consent
The lawful basis for any referral into Severn Wye is consent. Referrers must first obtain consent from the client or their parent or guardian before passing their information to Severn Wye.
The client should understand:
– what information is being shared (contact details)
– who it is being shared with (Severn Wye)
– for what purpose (providing additional support)
– how to withdraw their consent.
As the referrer you are responsible for obtaining client consent. We advise that you record on your internal systems that the client has given consent to be referred to Severn Wye.

Step 1
Please only share basic personal data in the referral: name and contact details, and the reason for the referral.
We will contact the client to gather additional information and the required consents for storing and processing their data, as specified by the project through which the client is supported. We will also provide the client with the necessary Privacy Statements covering onward support.
