Severn Wye backs ‘Up the Energy’ campaign

A megaphone with the words' We've donated' to show support for the community energy campaign

A campaign to help grow the movement for community energy across the UK has been backed by Severn Wye which has become a founding partner in Community England’s crowdfunding drive.

‘Up the Energy’ is a campaign helping communities across England generate their own clean energy – cutting bills and reducing emissions while keeping the benefits local. The campaign is set to give more people the chance to take part in the energy transition in a practical, local way.

Allison Cawley, Severn Wye’s director of energy services, said: “We’re delighted to back the campaign because we want community energy to become more visible, better understood and able to scale. We know from first hand experience working in England and Wales that these projects bring people together in a powerful way, and support communities to build skills and confidence to create lasting change. The money raised by the campaign – which has match funding for every donation made – will help to take community energy to more places and get more people involved.”

How you can contribute to Up the Energy

The Up the Energy Crowdfunder is helping to grow the movement for community energy across the UK. By donating, you’ll support more communities to take action for a fairer, cleaner energy system that works for everyone. Thanks to Aviva match funding, every contribution will have double the impact – helping Community Energy England to reach more people, build stronger local energy projects, and give communities a bigger role in the transition to net zero. Whether you can give £10, £100, or simply help spread the word, your support will make a real difference.

Every donation made today (and until 25 June) will be matched – doubling the impact.
