Working from home in greater comfort, with lower bills
If you work from home in a property that’s hard to heat in winter or keep cool in summer, we may be able to help with fully-funded home improvements.
Changing the way people use energy
As an independent charity working to change the way people use energy, we like to find new ways for organisations – and their people – to cut costs and carbon.
And with more of us working from home for part or all of the week, responsible organisations are considering the home working environment, as it impacts the health and well being of their employees.

Cutting costs and carbon
A home that’s hard to heat in winter and difficult to cool in summer is not only uncomfortable to work in, but leads to extra-high energy bills during the colder months.
Now that remote working is the norm for many, there’s a new way for organisations to champion carbon saving initiatives.
By signposting their employees to apply for an energy efficiency survey of their home and answer some simple eligibility checks, organisations can actively promote a low carbon future – and open the way for people to access fully-funded surveys and property improvement upgrades that will transform their home working environment.
What’s on offer?*
- Expert surveys* and recommendations for your home
- Fully-funded energy-saving upgrades*
- Improvements such as insulation, heating, and renewables
- Support for you and your household at every step.
*Please note that eligibility criteria apply
There are different eligibility requirements for various funding schemes, which we can talk through with you.
However, the government funding we can access is available for a range of improvements, and some schemes have no income barrier, making these important measures available to a wider range of employees.

Sarah’s warm home transformation
Sarah shares her experience applying for the Warm Homes Local Grant through to having new measures installed.
After contacting the Severn Wye team, she received a free energy efficiency survey which identified key improvements to make her home warmer, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient.
Thanks to funding through the local authority delivery grant — part of the UK government’s home retrofit programme — Sarah was able to install an air source heat pump, solar panels and new, efficient radiators.
The result? A cosy home, lower energy bills, and a meaningful reduction in carbon emissions. Sarah’s story is a great example of how local energy advice and government support can make a real difference — for people and the planet.
