MEES for domestic landlords
Your action plan for meeting Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards.
Impartial advice to optimise the energy efficiency of your portfolio
Since 1 April 2020, domestic landlords can’t let properties with an EPC rating below E, unless they have a valid exemption in place.
Aside from the legalities, many landlords are already taking steps to make sure their properties are as energy efficient as possible. After all, a better EPC rating is increasingly attractive to tenants, can qualify you for favourable mortgage rates, and may increase the value of the property.
An EPC is the first step to identifying areas where energy efficiency can be improved. Our MEES service for landlords goes further, with a walk and talk survey by one of our specialists, and an energy report that includes bespoke recommendation so you can invest in the right measures for your property or portfolio. The right measures for one property might not be best for another – our bespoke service gives you the best start to achieving lower running costs and reduced environmental impact in the long run.
Our MEES 2020 service will help you improve the EPC rating of your property to comply with current Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards:
- standard EPC issued to confirm current rating
- tailored recommendations provided to achieved desired rating, confirmed with a draft EPC
- lowest-cost options modelled against EPC criteria
- follow-up EPC once measures have been installed.
We can also worked with your tenants to see if they are eligible for funding towards improvements.
All Severn Wye’s home energy services are available to domestic landlords, with the added benefit of a 20% discount on EPC surveys carried out on multiple properties on the same day.
